How did you get your baby started on a cup?

About a month ago I bought a sippy cup with bright colors, adjustable handles, and a vent system. I've given it to my now 7-month-old daughter at least once a day since then, but she just thinks it's a toy. She loves to shake it and watch the liquid splash on the inside, but she hasn't really drank from it yet. I have been able to get her to put the spout in her mouth, but she just makes a funny face ("Are you kidding me?! This isn't a bottle!!"). Will she eventually learn how to use it on her own, or should I be helping her? I really don't want to force the issue by holding it in her mouth - that would just make it another bottle. I'm certainly not ready to wean her off the bottle yet, but I was hoping she could get started with a cup now, to make the future transition easier. What did you do with your baby? Thanks.
