Looking for home treatments for injured hamster?
I work at a petstore and I had a 7-week old short-hair hamster attacked on my watch by some gerbils. I ended up buying the hamster because I felt responsible, but he has a cut on his front left toe -has no problem walking on it- a cut on his tail, -but he's not bothered when you touch it- and two body cuts: one on his left shoulder and the other down by his feet, on his thigh area. The areas are scabbed now, and my manager says he will be alright because they are just basic flesh wounds. However, i'm concerned with infection. Is saline cleaning the wounds with a q-tip enough home treatment or is there something else I should do? I haven't started any treatments. I've found some websites online that suggest saline flushing and neosporin type regimens, but does anyone have any experience with this? He doesn't have any signs of infection yet, and it's been several days.
